UPCOMING EVENTS AND LECTURES

Our first Winter lecture will be given on Wednesday, 30th October 2002 at 7.30 p.m. in the Garda Club, Harrington Street, Dublin 2, by Dr. David Murphy who is editing 'The Directory of Irish Biography' at the Royal Irish Academy. The title of Dr. Murphy's lecture will be "The Royal Irish Constabulary and the Crimea - involvement in the Mounted Staff Corps and the Commissariat'". Dr. Murphy's lecture follows extensive research on the topic.

On Wednesday, 13th November 2002, our Assistant Secretary, Jim Herlihy, will give a lecture entitled "Researching the Officer Corps of the R.I.C.". In anticipation of his publication on the topic, Jim will give us some idea of his progress to-date. Two loyal members of our Society, Mr. Charlie Doherty and Mr. John O'Donoghue (retired R.T.E.) will give short presentations on their continuing video documentaries they continue to produce and direct.
